Selecting an Appropriate Wedding Gift

What are the general rules of thumb when selecting a wedding gift for a friend or a loved one?  I have never read of a rule or heard anyone articulate one. On the contrary I have heard that it is a good idea to ask about the wish list of your friend or loved one.  If this is not possible then go to idea number two; which is to talk with someone that knows your friend or loved one very well. Find out from that person what some potential wedding gifts could be for your friend or loved one.

I’ve usually found it useful to match the wedding gift with the receiver’s personality. If the person is flamboyant then a suitable gift would be something that commands attention from others such as a personalized photo cuff link whereas if the person is of a more quiet nature then a more suitable gift could be a pocket watch.  An outstanding wedding gift that would be well liked is the Chevron Jewelry Set that is just right for anyone in the wedding party and is guaranteed to compliment any formal dress.  So, go ahead and make the decision.  Something to Razzle and Dazzle or something quiet and soothing.
