When I was a young girl the wedding cake tops that I saw at all the weddings that I attended were basically a porcelain bride and groom formally dressed and strategically positioned on top of the cake. Slowly, but surely the lifeless figures of a bride and groom on top of the cake have evolved into personalized shapes and forms that reflect the taste of the bride and groom.
Some additional examples of cake tops are: Personalized Acrylic Circles, Photo Cake Tops, Personalized square, Lettered Swarovski and Crystal Cake Tops. Personally, I think the shift from lifeless to lively and vivacious is much more appealing. The modern bride today feels a greater sense of being in control of the finer details of her special day. The groom is usually supportive of his bride. Of course he stands to gain by being agreeable. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose a personalized cake top with a nice romantic picture of my groom and me.
