It is such a nice feeling that the young man and woman will exchange wedding vows and then be swept away in a fairytale cloud of everlasting wedding bliss.  The reality is that on their way back from the honeymoon the real world starts to rear its ugly face.  This is really the time when this wonderful couple starts to draw from their years of solid upbringing.  All the lessons that were modeled by their parents will come back either gradually or like a flood that knows no boundary.

The single unity wedding candle that the couple lit during the ceremony was lit from two individual candles, representing the two families from which the couple came. Two families with maybe different cultural values and who sometimes come from different countries.  Yet, their children saw it fit to fall in love and marry each other regardless of the challenges that initially faced them. This, very often is the glue that helps to keep some couples together.  This is proof that families all over the world love and value their offsprings and care enough to model their values to them sometimes consciously or unconscientiously.  This is solid proof that the family unit is resilient and can bounce back after adversity.

A properly planned wedding will usually have a checklist of items from the bridal shower to the honeymoon all covered in one way or the other.  Most weddings today have a coordinator that handles everything that is directly or indirectly connected to this event. One item that sometimes gets overlooked is the appreciation gift for the smallest members of the wedding party.  These are the ‘child attendants’ such as the town crier, the ring bearer, the flower girl etc.

A great idea for a gift is the heart awareness fleece blanket that is crafted with the softest fleece and features a heart awareness red dress with pink embroidered design.  These colorful children’s gifts are bound to be well received.

Wow! a Gorgeous Cake Topper

Janet and Jim wanted everything connected to their wedding to be unique and personalized. They generated a lot of precious time and energy into the planning of the actual ceremony as well as the reception.  They wanted their cake to be the rich fruit cake that is typical of a Jamaican wedding cake. This rich cake was a little heavier than the ones most of their friends were accustomed to having at their friends’ weddings.  The one common thing about the cakes from the two different cultures was that they were decorated with the same delicate icing.

Janet and Jim wanted the icing on their wedding cake to be mostly white with clusters of peach and cream roses at strategic areas around the various layers. On the top level, the couple planned to have a gorgeous wedding cake top  complete with a fancy monogram.  The thought of having an alternative to a stiff statue on top of their wedding cake was something great to anticipate.

Should We Hire a Wedding Coordinator?

One of the things that modern couples have to contend with when they decide to get married is to decide on the coordination of the wedding. The couple needs to ask if they want the added stress of having to prepare all the necessary items on their long check list and then to be responsible to see them being implemented on the day of their wedding.  In my opinion, that’s way too much to place on the shoulders of the couple.

Getting married is stressful in itself. The stress is not considered to be labeled as “distress” but rather “eustress” meaning a kind of stress with a good ending.
Couples will be involved in the early parts of the planning for the event, but should relinquish the final execution to a responsible individual who is organized and can command respect.

Knowing what to do during the ceremony and who will be responsible to do it is a key component of the wedding ceremony as well as the reception.  An example is; who is responsible for directing the guests to the signing of the wedding guests’ registry?  And after the church ceremony who will take the guestbook to the reception hall?  If the guest book is electronic who will be instructing the guests on its proper use?  All of these questions and more, point to the wedding coordinator.  The coordinator must be able to delegate responsible individuals to perform different functions and also train them to recognize when their task is completed.

More and more couples are opting to use electronic gadgets in their weddings. One popular use of an electronic gadget is for the permanent preservation of the signatures of
the wedding guests.  This can be done on a personalized wedding signature platter.  This platter is made of porcelain and can be displayed in the home of the special couple.

Many couples stick to the old method of asking their guests to sign a guestbook.  Others are willing to explore new and innovative methods that are time saving and are just as effective. So, if you are a new couple that is exploring new options to be used in the place of the traditional guestbook; take the plunge and see if you are satisfied.

Pretty Flower Girl and her Basket

The handsome little boy with the ring pillow walked up the isle and took his assigned place at the altar; then the flower girl with the sparkling flower girl basket approached just as the white bridal carpet was rolled from the door to the altar.  She daintily reached into her basket and gently extracted a handful of rose petals and proceeded to scatter them along the path the bride would walk shortly.  She scattered more and more rose petals until she had almost exhausted the contents of her basket.  She also took her assigned spot at the altar.A pretty little girl with a stepped hastily through the door ringing a bell and shouted “the bride is coming, the bride is coming” as she made her way up the isle to take her assigned position.

The organ roared and the congregation stood with their face to the door.  The bride and her dad had approached the door and had just started to proceed on their seemingly long journey to the altar.  The bride was young beautiful and smiling through her lacy veil that was elegantly cut to fit her long train that followed gracefully behind.

Attractive Wedding Invitation Kits

My friend Julia is planning her wedding and she has already decided that she will be designing and printing her wedding invitations. One thing she has decided to do however, and that is to get the pre-packaged wedding invitation kit. With the kit already color coordinated all she will have to do is to decide on a theme and then write a draft of the invitation.  Once this is spell and content checked she will copy the number of invitations needed for the individuals that will be invited to the wedding.

I applaud my friend Julia for being such a prudent person with her money.  I totally agree with her that by printing her own invitations she is able to use the funds saved to make another purchase in preparation for her wedding.  Cheers to this very wise bride!

Classy Ring Pillows

The little boy who was chosen to be the ring pillow bearer was smart looking and cute. He walked up the isle just before the flower girl and he held the wedding ring pillow just right. He did not squeeze it much, neither did he allow it to almost fall.  Obviously he was coached by a wise instructor. His tuxedo was tailored with exquisite care and precision. It fitted like a second skin—just right!

On the pillow, in a satin case sat a pair of precious rings; one for the bride and the other for the groom.  This young man had a ton of responsibility on his hand.  The good thing is that he seemed to acknowledge every bit of the responsibility placed in his charge.  This little boy was not too serious, neither was he to giggly.  The silence was broken when the organist started the tune of the bridal march.  It was rich and melodious and it got the attention of the guests assembled in the little white church..  The guests all stood up with an air of reverence.

The bride looked regal as she held on to the arm of her father and walked up the isle of the church to the altar where her husband was standing with the best man.  The ceremony was about to begin and this wonderful couple will soon be pronounced man and wife.

Emily wanted to have her guests sign the traditional guestbook at their upcoming wedding, but Carl had a better idea.  He had seen a very innovative means of keeping the signatures of their wedding guests on a platter.  This innovation was the personalized guest book platter that uses a permanent black pen to write on porcelain surface.  Carl thought that it would mean a lot more to be able to look at the thoughts and signatures of friends and relatives as he and Emily displayed the finished product in their home long after the wedding ceremony.

Emily thought this would be a great idea so she went along with Carl’s thoughts and agreed to have her wedding coordinator ask their guests to sign the platter and write brief comments beside their names.  The couple was quite happy with this creative approach to capturing such an important part of their wedding in such a long lasting one of a kind format.
